Mahila Jan Adhikar Samiti is an organisation aimed at emancipation of women. It attempts to deal with cases of violence against women by bringing them together under one cause that is Gender Equality. The organisation is based in the districts of Ajmer, Bhilwada and Tonk in Central Rajasthan. The organisation is also heavily involved in child related issues of child marriage, child labour, malnutrition, education, child abuse both physical and sexual etc from the last 10 years. Childline1098 was started in the district of Ajmer in Rajasthan in July 2011. It is a project by Women and Child Development Department and was initiated by The Childline India Foundation. MJAS is a sub-centre in this project since July 2011. Two districts: Kekri and Bhinay come under its purview. Apart from MJAS, there are two other sub-centres called Grameen Evam Samajik Vikas Sanstha and Gareeb Navaaj Mahila Evam Bal Kalyan Samiti who work in the blocks of Masooda, Arai, Pisangana, Srinagar and Javaja. Rajasthan Mahila Kalyan Mandal acts as a Collab and Disha is the project’s nodal agency. In its second year from April 2012 to March 2013, MJAS concentrated on creating awareness on child-related issues in the villages around Kekri and Bhinay. The main aim was to take up child related issues and make people understand the magnitude and the seriousness of the situation so proactive measures could be taken to overcome the same. Intervention and rehabilitation of victims of child exploitation and sexual abuse were taken up by the organisation in the same year. At the same time, it collaborated with the accountable units of the State like Bal Kalyan Samiti, Kishor Nyay Board, Mahila va Bal Vikas Vibhag, Rajya Bal Sanrakshan Aayog, Vishesh Bal Police Unit etc. to ensure justice.
